In this guide, we will explore the utilization and benefits of Tier 2 units in PvP environments. While most players dismiss Tier 2 units, when paired with specific commanders & gear, they can become formidable forces on the battlefield.
By following the strategies outlined below, you can maximize the potential of your Tier 2 units and give your opponents a nice little surprise. Not to mention, saving a little coin in the process.
But before we get into that, let’s take a look at some examples that demonstrate their viability(proof), so that my words don’t fall on deaf ears.
Khaldoon & Pirates
Khaldoon's utilization of tier 2 Pirates, combined with the unique Overconfidence effect found on the Cutlass, showcases their effectiveness on the battlefield.
Black Serpent & Pirates
Black Serpent's report highlights the immense damage dealt by tier 2 Pirates when synergized with his Evil Men buffs, reaching staggering numbers in the 60k range rounds one, two, three, and four.
Shagrat, Stalkers, Brawlers, & Brutes
And my personal favorite, Shagrat utilizing all tier 2 units against a T3 Gandalf the White with extra powerful elite skilled units. For that build, you’ll have to visit the Ungoliant Tower Discord server.
Comparing Stats: Predecessors vs. Successors
Now let’s take a look at their stats in comparison with their successors to see just how much, or little, they really differ.
Pirates vs Corsairs
Although Pirates have half the defense points than Corsairs, with the right build, you can compensate for this weakness and turn them into reliably powerful units dealing significant fire damage. With proper equipment choices, Pirates can emerge as the most potent damage dealers in the game, ensuring consistent performance round after round.
Brutes vs Crushers
Similar to Crushers, Brutes may not exhibit substantial differences compared to other units. However, when equipped with the T2 unit buff, they transform from mere walls to formidable tanks capable of retaliating against opponents.
Brawlers vs Berserkers
Brawlers may differ significantly from Berserkers in terms of stats, however, when combined with the T2 unit buff that gives them a 90% chance of cleansing a random debuff every single round, they become highly valuable under the right circumstances. This ability proves incredibly useful when countering certain commanders or aiming to neutralize any debuff. Their versatility and cleansing capability outweigh the stun immunity offered by Berserkers when teamed with specific commanders.
Stalkers vs Reapers
Stalkers differ only very slightly from Reapers, with their Defense stat being the most noticed. Lucky for you their T2 specific unit buff gives them a 12% chance to avoid all damage thrown at them every single round. Now how does that 2 point attack difference look? Yeah. I know.
Strategies for Utilizing Tier 2 Units:
1. Recognizing Equipment Synergies:
Certain equipment comes with powerful effects specifically tailored to Tier 2 units. These effects can enhance their abilities, boost their strengths, or mitigate weaknesses. By identifying these synergies and equipping your units accordingly, you can significantly enhance their performance on the battlefield.
2. Analyzing Commander Skills:
Commanders possess unique skill sets that greatly impact the effectiveness of Tier 2 units. Study your commanders' skill trees and abilities to identify skills that align with the strengths and playstyle of your Tier 2 units. Focus on maximizing the synergies between commanders and Tier 2 units to create a powerful combination. Consider abilities that enhance unit stats, provide crowd control, or improve survivability.
3. Continuous Adaptation and Learning:
To achieve battlefield dominance with Tier 2 units, it is crucial to adapt and learn from each encounter. Experiment with different equipment combinations, commander skill sets, and tactical approaches. Analyze the outcomes of battles and learn from your successes, as well as your failures. Because trust me, there will be failures. So don’t be afraid to lose once in a while.
